Ian Wingate is the culinary magician and award-winning mastermind as the Chef/Owner of Moxie. Chef Wingate, originally from Hawaii, studied at the prestigious California Culinary Academy. While studying he worked at the Lark Creek Inn and was mentored by California Chef of the Year, Bradley Ogden. This experience left Wingate with a strong affection for French/European Cuisine. Upon graduation Ian was recruited to work at the famous Roys in Hawaii. Family drew the Chef to the Spokane area where Wingate first delighted Northwest palates when he opened Harry Os. His next creation was the original Moxie in Liberty Lake. Moxie was voted Best New Restaurant, and Wingate received rave reviews for his innovative Euro-Asian masterpieces. In 2002 he was recruited for the position of Executive Chef at the newly renovated Davenport Hotel. There he was awarded Best Chef and Chef to Watch. His latest works of culinary art may be found at the downtown Spokane Moxie where, as in the French tradition, Every meal should be a blend of sensory art and lasting memories. |
